Training should reflect the athlete in front of me. I use individual load management, tailored technical and fitness work, and clear development goals rather than assuming every player needs the same program.
I incorporate evidence-based preparation, video analysis and education in areas such as nutrition, psychology, concussion, hockey safety and strategy so athletes understand the behaviours that support performance.
I encourage athletes to think, ask questions and take responsibility for their development. Feedback is a two-way process, and I value athlete and parent input when reviewing programs.
Strong teams are built deliberately. I include team-building, clear expectations and shared goals throughout a campaign, not just at tournaments.
I use clear language, predictable structure and multiple ways of presenting information. The aim is to make learning accessible, reduce avoidable cognitive load and allow athletes to focus on decision-making and performance.
